Here is a stunning design by Dick Clark Architecture, but the listing indicates this home needs work and is being sold “as-is”. Looks like a great start though. Anyone know the story?

I heard it needs in the neighborhood of $200K of work – leaks, foundation etc. Also heard there were several law suits between owner/architect/builder over the issues. So, yeah, it’s a “fixer”.
I was going to look at this house with my realtor and was told the same thing as Rob. Needs tons of work. There is a lawsuit that lists over 200 pages of repairs that are needed.
Looked at this house when the original owner had it. The realtor told us it was built by a professional builder -built to Dick Clark’s plan. We found out though the web that the owner was the builder. When we went to see the house, it was definately not to plan. There were visable signs that the foundation was bad. The workmanship was also horrible -torn sheet rock, puddy sealing the windows that looked like used chewing gum, they ran out of one type of bamboo in the middle of one of the floors and just continued on with another color. I feel horrible for the current owners. What a nightmare.
wasn’t this house on the AIA tour back in 2007…?
It probably looks like a good opportunity as a fixer upper, but this is a complete redo.
