Another curious place available on the cheap on Jousting Pl (Westlake / Eanes). Right next to one listed a few weeks back. Both are foreclosed / bank owned.

I’ve seen this one before. I can’t remember what the pre-foreclosure price was. Taxes are way out of line for the sales price, though.
D’oh. Twice as much land as the other property on Jousting Place. That may explain the higher taxes.
This was on the AIA tour a few years back (2004 or 2005) although they only showed the master suite addition. The master suite is well constructed, but the rest looks pretty shoddy. It’s a very weird house and frankly it’s amazing that you can turn almost 4k square feet into essentially a two bedroom house with one living area.
It *is* odd. Why does the listing show the year of construction as 1970, then? Was it on the tour as a reno? It looks to me like a mix of Gaudi meets Bauhaus meets Texas Hill Country.
Yes, it was on the tour as a reno. My wife talked to the owners who said they planned to extend the renovation throughout the rest of the house, but it doesn’t look like they ever got to it. Another odd thing is that the second bedroom appears to be an earlier addition than the master suite which really makes me wonder what the configuration of the original house was.
